In an effort to connect with other crafters (without the aid of Facebook), I joined a “team” on Etsy. This team introduces us and our shops to each other and provides a means to support each other and ask questions during our fledging Etsy experience.
That was something I wanted to do this time around with Etsy – have a connection with others. I am at a severe disadvantage not having an active Facebook page and I am still not quite ready to head back to that social media site. It’s been kind of a breath of fresh air not being a part of it all.
Below is my most recent vase project. I took these photos thinking that it was complete and ready to be uploaded to Etsy, but….I’m not 100% happy with it so I’m going to keep plugging away at it. This particular vase didn’t go through that horrifically ugly phase before it ended up the way it is. It seems to be missing something – maybe it’s that.
I may remove the brown straw material and add some color to the silver fabric flowers. I love the random splash and sprigs of metallic and glittery materials that are off to the one side; I plan on keeping that. It just doesn’t seem to jive with the brown straw. It’s like pairing a country style with a futuristic, outer-space vibe; it’s just too weird and choppy.
I love the fact that when it comes to crafts, there aren’t any real mistakes. There’s very few things I can’t fix and shape into something else. Kind of like life, if you are able to let go of the desire to try and control everything and adopt a more go-with-the-flow mindset.
